Tax Principal

 


          Tim is a principal and Vice President International Taxes, at Coulter & Justus, PC,  Knoxville, TN where he heads the Firm's international tax practice. 

          Public  Accounting  experience - involves tax planning and compliance services for individuals, partnerships, trusts, estates, private and publicly held corporations, involving U.S. taxes (domestic and international), state and local taxes, representations (with Power of Attorney) in federal and state tax audits and appeals, and litigation support service as an expert witness. 

          Current concentration - international tax matters for U.S. companies and investors with activities abroad as well as for foreign enterprises and individuals investing and doing business in the United States;  e.g. cross-border transactions, foreign tax credit planning, transfer pricing, and the impact of tax treaties on U.S. and foreign taxpayers.

          Professional  Organizations and Affiliations - member of AICPA since 1987, and the AICPA's Tax Section and Personal Financial Planning Section since 1995.  member of the TSCPA and served on its Taxation Committee 1990 -1996; member of the FICPA; member of Enterprise Worldwide since 1998, member of the International Executive Committee of GMN International, since 2003, and has served as the President of the North American Region of GMN International since 2006.

 

          Articles  and Presentations - authored articles and lectured on various U.S. domestic and international tax topics.  Since 2005, he has frequently lectured both in the U.S. and abroad on U.S. taxation of international operations, and doing business in the United States, before professional accounting associations and business organizations, and at the University of Tennessee.

 

          Education - 1971 graduate of the University of Missouri,. Advanced training in Federal Tax Law and IRS Practice & Procedures from the Internal Revenue Service, 1971-1974. 

 

          Tim began his career as a Revenue Agent of the Internal Revenue Service for sixteen (16) years and attained the position of Chief, Quality Review, Nashville District of the IRS before entering public accountancy in 1985. His over twenty-five (25) years of public accounting experience includes service as Director of Tax Services for the Knoxville office of an international public accounting, and currently Vice President International Taxes, Coulter & Justus, PC, since 1995.
